HCG diet plan does not ask for strenuous exercise. It involves the taking of HCG hormone as well as a very strict low calorie diet. It is said that the HCG once taken in will signal the part of the brain called the hypothalamus for the mobilization of unused and stored fats and enhance metabolism. These stored fats are usually found in the following areas: thighs, belly, hips, arms, and buttocks. A diet with calorie as low as 500 should be followed by dieters while having HCG treatment so that fat burning is easier and faster. On the average, a person would only burn 500 calories a day through diet or exercise. Through HCG diet plan, it is said that a person can lose about a pound a day, which is about 3,500 calories.

HCG Diet Phases

There are three phases in HCG diet plan. During the first phase of the diet, eating fatty foods like eggs, butter, and dairy is a must. This phase is also called the food loading phase, which is a must during the first two days of the diet, in order to store the normal fat. The second phase or maintenance phase, begins with day 3 which lasts until day 23 or 37. During these days, HCG treatment is continued and at the same time dieters will follow a specific 500 calorie diet. Vitamin Bsupplements can be taken during this stage. There are certain foods that can only be eaten during this stage, mostly protein, vegetables and fruits. Those which contain fatty, sugary and oily foods have to be avoided. The only drinks allowed are coffee, water, or tea. Half a gallon to a gallon of water a day is required because water retention is prone to the body if water intake is less than the requirement. After HCG treatment is stopped, 500 calorie diet is maintained or another three more days.
After this, the third phase begins. The third phase is stabilization phase that will continue for the next three weeks. The body is being prepared to remain the same after weight loss despite putting back the starches into the diet regimen. Three regular meals and a few snacks can be eaten in a day, but carbohydrates and sugars still need to be avoided. Meat, fruits, veggies, nuts, and other health foods are recommended. A maximum amount of 1,500 calories is needed by the body so that a person does not feel famished otherwise fat will again be stored. Regular exercise can also begin at this point. Eating those which are prohibited during this stage might trigger unwanted weight gain. Of course no one wants this to happen after all the effort that one has put into this diet plan.
